Rhodesian ridgeback is still used in many parts of the world to hunt game, but enjoys extraordinary popularity as a guard dog and a family member.

BRIEF HISTORICAL SUMMARY:
Rhodesian ridgeback is currently the only recognized breed originating in South Africa. His ancestry can be traced to the Cape Colony, where he mingled with dogs earlier pioneers and the half-domesticated dogs Hotentotů, who were on the back of the comb. Rhodes ridgeback mostly hunted in groups of two or three, and its original role was to ascertain a large animals (especially Lions) and thanks to the great skills to stop it until you come close to the Hunter. GENERAL APPEARANCE:
Rhodesian ridgeback should be harmoniously built, strong, muscular, agile and active, symmetric from the profile to the motion and an average speed of extremely persistent.
